The city of Seattle is the northernmost major city in the contiguous United States, and the largest city in the Pacific Northwest and the state of Washington itself. A major seaport situated on a narrow isthmus between Puget Sound (an arm of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, south of the Canada – United States border, and it is named after Chief Sealth "Seattle", of the Duwamish and Suquamish native tribes. The 2010 census found that Seattle is home to 608,660 residents within a metropolitan area of some 3.4 million inhabitants. Currently dubbed the "Emerald City", Seattle is proud of it's lush evergreen forests throughout the area, including parks like Interlaken, Ravenna, and Discovery parks all situated in the middle of the city. Being that it has been ranked as one of the most car-congested cities in the U.S., Seattle has taken great strides in the last decade to provide adequate public transportation as well as made a larger effort to be more green and encouraging its inhabitants to do the same. Having a large reputation for being the home of rock legend Jimi Hendrix and the "grunge" genre which was influenced by local bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, Seattle continues to have a flourishing arts and music community, fueled by the same reputation for a strong love and consumption of coffee as well as the home to cafe chains like Starbucks and Seattle's Best.

Some of it's most well known landmarks include the Seattle Space Needle, Pike's Place Market, Fremont Troll and The Seattle Central Public Library. Being home to so many sites, attractions and landmarks, the city is naturally made up of a multitude of varying neighborhoods: Magnolia, Wallingford, Green Lake, University District, Ravenna, South Park, Columbia City, Ballard, West Seattle, Georgetown, Pinehurst, Maple Leaf, Lake City, View Ridge, Northgate. At [info]seattle, we require that your journal contain only your character's name and no extra words. Likewise, AIM screennames need to contain some part of the character's name for easy identification.

[info]seattle's update limit is one in-character entry, narrative, or scene per month. Entries and narratives are expected to consist of several substantial paragraphs. A second option is to have several smaller updates. However, one-liners will not count toward the update limit and placeholders are not allowed. Threads and scenes counting toward the update limit are expected to consist of at least three responses per character. Of course, for these scenes to count, mods must be able to see them, so we ask that you add us to your filters when you post scenes privately. (Not because we want to creep your shit, but just because we want to make sure you're active.) We hate to make such specific constraints, but we've had past experiences with people taking advantage of more lenient rules. Feel free to post scenes of all kinds in the threading community.

Hiatuses are for two weeks at a time, please notify us via the dropbox if in need of one. You will not be granted a hiatus unless you contact the mods directly or via the dropbox. Please do not PM.

Deceased and original PBs will not be permitted. We would also prefer that you not change your PB once in the game.

Major plot lines do not need to be cleared with the mods, but we do ask that you play them out realistically and respectfully, and we will make sure that situations do not get out of hand. Above all else, we ask that you keep IC and OOC separate, and please let the mods know if you're encountering any line crossing or a conflict of this nature.

Have fun and happy playing!
